UConn and Texas Secure the Top Two
The Huskies routed Iowa, earning all 25 first-place ballots from the 32-member national media panel. Texas, meanwhile, collected the remaining seven ballots, staying locked in the No. 2 spot. The next poll will appear on Jan. 5.
Texas Tech Makes a Return
The Red Raiders, now 14-0, entered the poll for the first time since 2012 after a 61-60 win over then-No. 15 Baylor on Sunday. The victory was Texas Tech’s first against a ranked opponent this season and their first over Baylor since 2011, dropping the Bears to 22nd.
Other Movements
South Carolina and UCLA follow Texas at No. 3 and No. 4. LSU, Michigan and Maryland occupy the next three positions. Oklahoma and TCU are tied for eighth, with Iowa State ranked 10th after a last-second win over Kansas.
