In a startling series of events on Saturday, December 13, 2025, the San Marcos Police Department arrested a suspect after two women reported separate attempted kidnapping incidents.
The arrest took place on the same day, with the suspect identified as 38‑year‑old Kevin Frimpong.
Frimpong’s age and name were released by the San Marcos Police Department (SMPD) as part of the official statement.
The first woman came forward after an encounter at the San Marcos City Cemetery, where the suspect approached her claiming to be law enforcement.
He displayed handcuffs, attempted to restrain her, but she managed to break free and immediately called SMPD for assistance.
Following that call, SMPD received a separate report describing Frimpong acting suspiciously at a nearby home.
The department responded to both calls, locating and detaining the suspect within the same day.
Online jail records show that Frimpong currently faces two charges: impersonating a public servant and attempted kidnapping.
The records also indicate a bond amount of $100,000 set for the case.
During the incident, SMPD posted a social media message that read, “If you encountered anyone claiming to be law enforcement under suspicious circumstances, or have information related to this incident, contact San Marcos Police immediately,” SMPD said in the social media post.
This statement was issued to encourage the public to report any similar suspicious activity.
As of Sunday morning, Frimpong does not have an attorney listed in the public records.
KXAN noted that if an attorney is later assigned, the station will reach out for a comment and update the story accordingly.
The SMPD’s social media post also served as a public warning regarding impersonation of law enforcement.
The impersonation charge reflects the suspect’s claim to be a law‑enforcement officer during the cemetery encounter.
The attempted kidnapping charge arises from the suspect’s attempt to restrain the first woman in a manner consistent with kidnapping tactics.
These online jail records are the source of the information regarding the bond and the specific charges filed against Frimpong.
According to the SMPD, the first woman broke free before police arrived and that the suspect was then apprehended.
The San Marcos Police Department, which serves the local community, handled the investigation and subsequent arrest.
At this time, the case remains open and the suspect awaits further legal proceedings while the community awaits additional updates.
