Contest Details
Walmart hosted a holiday-themed coloring contest that included elementary schools in Houston, Austin and Dallas. The event gave students the chance to earn Walmart gift cards for their Parent Teacher Association (PTA). According to a Walmart news release, schools that simply participated received a $250 gift card for their PTA. Additional prizes were available for schools with higher participation rates and for students whose cards ranked in the top three of the market. Winning students also received gift cards.
Financial Impact
The program saw Walmart donate more than $40,000 to over 170 Texas schools. This contribution supports educational and community initiatives across the state.

The holiday cards created by the students will be displayed at a Walmart store local to each school until December 22. After that, the cards will be delivered to a nearby hospital, nursing home or senior center.
